As a blogger you probably have several goals you want to achieve. Obviously, you want to increase your RSS feed readers as well as your comments counts. In fact, you would like (just like me) to increase your authority within your niche. In addition, I really think that – at least subconsciously – every blogger wants to break the Technorati Top 100.
The Technorati Top 100 is a compilation of the 100 most popular blogs based on their authority. For example, the actual top 5 is the following:

As you can see, the first position is occupied by Engadget with an authority of 24096. The second place is occupied by TechCrunch which have an authority of 23211. But what do this authority really means? The authority of a blog is represented by the number of blogs linking to another particular blog in the last six months. This means that Engadget gets 24096 blogs linking to it in the last 6 months. Note that links from blogs that are not indexed by Technorati are not taken into account.
Actually, to break the Technorati Top 100 you’ll need more than 3073 blogs linking to you. You’ll agree with me that this is not an easy ride!
To complement this post, I would like to share some other articles:

Note that signup with Technorati is free. And if you add me as one of your favorite, I’ll fav you also!

This mean that I really realize my goal of sharing something valuable. Even if “valuable” is quite subjective! I hope you’ll come back and keep commenting what I write.
Also, for the benefits of all I write a post on the way to make a good first impression at ProBlogDesign.com. You can take a look here!
