I work on a site (not mine) that is on marketing - pretty detailed posts that only a person who needs marketing help would read. The blog owner also has a second blog, a personal blog, that is an easier read. Call one site a niche and the other a sub-niche.

I was thinking that this was not going to work, but in the end there are 2 different audiences, one for each site. I suppose you can say that one is advanced and one is medium level.

The information that is too heavy for the personal site will usually be referenced about weekly, telling the readers that a more detailed post is available at site2. This logic follows just what you say in your post and I have become a firm believer.

Hans,

I'd never thought of this before. Like a lot of people I have various content all over the place (including on comments like this) and yet if I collected that information together it might be sufficiently coherent to form a nice report, or, as in your example, an entirely new page on my blog with all the information collected in one place.

Almost like a 'Greatest Hits Album'. In fact it's precisely like that and that's why record companies sell so many compilations. Because it's easier to get all the content in one place.

I can see how this idea could be extended very easily to give several other ways to re-purpose the content. Once you've collected the material together into one place, it could then be turned into a physical training course, or an online presentation. It could even form the basis of a webinar.

That's set me thinking about a few extra ways to tweak the idea.

David, I want to let you know that I really really appreciate your comment. This is the kind of comment that motivates me to give more and more to my readers even if I sometimes run out of time! You probably know what I means since you also are a father!

Again, thanks for your comment and don't hesitate to contact me if you need anything!
