For Facebook, most people add me because they find me though a friend. I will add people who have clean profile and if they spam me with messages, I delete them in no time.

I personally add friends if they leave a message saying something that shares similarity with me. For example, if they are also blogging, I will approve it instantly.

I must confess that I find the whole social networking thing not that interesting - for me personally.

It’s very clear that it’s a good way to network, but I suppose it depends on whether you want to network in the first place!

For me it’s not the most enjoyable use of my time, even though it is a very effective method of keeping in touch.

With the breakdown of the traditional family (certainly in the UK) the more modern, web connected ‘nuclear’ elective family is only likely to become stronger, I think.

Certainly I have found great people by visiting and commenting on their website. From there, you start to get to know fellow bloggers and you can sometimes find some really good people to network with.

I am selective about who I add. I like to look up profiles when I receive invites and I add on ones that I have something in common with, or seem interesting. I am leery of ones that have hundreds of “friends,” unless they are some sort of a celebrity. It just comes across as spammy for the most part.

I pretty much add anyone i come across or anyone who adds me unless their site is spammy, or has some adult/objectionable content.
